John Cabot was an Italian explorer and sailor. He was born around 1450 and around 1498 he died. Cabot was the son of a spice merchant in Genoa. He also worked as a spice merchant and sailed as far as Mecca.

Did you know that John Cabot went on the Matthew. In 1497 cabot left bristol on the Matthew. The Matthew weighted 50 tons. He only had a crew of 18 men. On this voyage he were planning to go to Asia. 50 days into the voyage they stop on the east coast of North America. Even though some historians think that he landed in MAinland Nova Scotia. He landed in Bristol in about five months later. When he got there he was soon reward of money.
